Haiti Ministry Update
Hello again New Hope!
You may remember me saying in the past that one of the goals of the ministry in Haiti in addition to sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ is providing education to as many as possible. Each of our Cumberland Presbyterian Churches there also has a school. As these boys and girls complete their primary education and become young men and women the hope is to send as many as possible on to college. There is a young man in one of our churches who has completed his primary education, has recently married, and is now desiring to continue his education so that he can become a pastor. The cost for him to complete the two year program required costs $1,300.00 in U.S. currency. I am trying to find a sponsor or sponsors to make this possible for him. His name is Herncy Polica. His wedding is one of those I participated in when we made our trip in June. He is a member of Lexi Cumberland Presbyterian Church where Smith Fauvelt is pastor.
If you are interested in sponsoring or helping to sponsor this young man’s education please contact me. The $1,300.00 does not have to be paid all at once. It can be made in monthly payments. This can be set up for a person to make payments directly to the institute he will be attending or you can make your contribution to the Mission Fund of New Hope and payments will be made from there. If you have questons please get in touch with me.
Another opportunity to help with the education of the boys and girls in the communities our churches are serving is by sponsoring or helping to sponsor the teachers in these schools. I will soon have specific information on how anyone who is interested in this ministry can help.
Also, please be in prayer for Sheslaire Georges, another of our Haitian pastors. He has an inteview on October 2 to determine if he will be granted a travel visa. If he receives his visa, Sheslaire will hopefully be in the United States November 1-9. He will be at New Hope sometime during his visit here. As soon as arrangements are made I will pass on that information. We will plan a special evening here at New Hope so that you can meet Sheslaire and hear his story. We will be inviting all Cumberland Presbyterian Churches in Murfreesboro Presbytery and Nashville Presbytery to join us.
Grace and peace,
